Discover the Monts d’Azur nature reserve, where native animals have been reintroduced into the landscape to roam free, without human intervention. The Monts d’Azur nature reserve is not a traditional animal park, it is a slice of real nature.

A natural park of 700 hectares dedicated to wild animals.

Situated in Thorenc in the Alps, 30 minutes from Grasse, the Monts d’Azur reserve is a patchwork of natural habitats: rocks, scree, grassland and charming woodlands made up of young oaks, hophornbeams, beeches and mountain ash.

A former hunting reserve, the area is home to a particularly diverse fauna encompassing more than 500 species, many protected by international agreements.

Activities available:
  • Walking:
Visits to the park are either by foot or by horse and cart. They are ALWAYS accompanied by a member of the scientific team, and will introduce visitors to the exceptional biodiversity of the mountains above Grasse.

The Domaine du Haut-Thorenc has a long history. The oldest parts date back to around 1550, as can be seen from the remains of the fortified interior and the vaulted cellars.

Completely rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries, the house has retained the features of the traditional Provencal “bastide”, with its round towers on the north side.

Food and accommodation
11 en-suite guest rooms (sleeping 2 to 4) are decorated in typical Provencal style. Spacious and welcoming, they have been designed to ensure guests feel at home.

Eco-lodges: a window onto the world of wild animals
Built in wood, stone and canvas, 5 lodges offer guests a privileged view of nature. Surrounded by wildlife in a magical setting, you can take in the landscapes and views of the reserve from dawn to dusk.
Each lodge accommodates 2 people in a camp-style setting, complete with camp fire and composting toilet. Bring your own duvet and lamps! Meals are brought to you by horse, and served by one of our team.
